I heart "We Heart It"

This week has been crazy for me! I'm sorry for my lack of posts this week...I'm just trying to get caught up with work, life, etc. and can't quite get ahead.  Anyway, I love browsing the website "We Heart It" when I need a little pick-me-up in the inspiration department. These photos caught my eye for one reason or another so I thought I'd share! I promise to post something a little more interesting tomorrow :)

Holly Dyment Design

Meet Holly Dyment, a Toronto based interior designer who's had quite an amazing career over the last 25 years, including features in popular magazines such as Canadian House & Home and Style at Home, television appearances, an much more. Her background is in fine art with training in graphic design. Can I just say, I am literally dying over her work! It's as if her interiors are made of juicy Skittles candy or a gorgeous rainbow...her ability to mix such bold colors and patterns is truly remarkable! This little bit from her website sums up her work perfecty;  "She is widely acclaimed for her fearless use of colour—on walls, ceilings, floors, cabinetry, upholstery and accessories—and her skill at mixing patterns and textures in a single room, a series of rooms, or an entire apartment or house." I hope you enjoy drooling over her exquisite portfolio as much I did. Just looking at all of that wonderful color and impeccable design, I can't help but feel blissful and inspired! Inspirational Snapshot: Colorful Bed

I'm loving this upholstered bed! The bright striped fabric really pops against the neutral walls and bedding. And the black & white striped drapery panel works surprisingly well...definitely a combo I wouldn't have thought to put together. What do you think?!

Liberty of London for Target

You may have already heard about or seen the new collection, but Liberty of London recently debuted their line of home decor, fashion and accessories for Target...and I'm in love with all of it! They've integrated their fresh floral patterns and bright color palettes into affordable bedding, accent pillows, dishes, and more. They even designed a few gorgeous floral print bicycles! It's all arrived just in time to welcome the new spring season by refreshing your decor and/or wardrobe with a fun accent or two (or more!). View the entire collection here. Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend. XO - Julie

Spring Fresh Floral Arrangements

I just came across this lovely gallery of creative floral arrangement ideas via House & Garden. Here's what they suggest for pretty blooms:  "Each season our gardens offer up a fresh array of flowers and foliage to play with. Raid your cupboards for random vessels – anything that holds water will do. Balance, colour, scale and proportion are the key to arrangements as individual as your home."

Eclectic Dining Spaces

Gone are the days of purchasing an entire set of matching furniture! Although there are exceptions where a matching set can look great...mixing different pieces together looks much more interesting. To achieve an eclectic dining space you can make each chair different, mix different wood finishes and/or upholstery, incorporate benches or stools with chairs, play with the scale / proportion of the table and seating...among many other creative ideas. However, there's a fine line between "eclectic" and "hodgepodge" so you want to choose your pieces wisely. I must admit, my dining table and chairs match but I'm constantly brainstorming ways I can change the look without spending much $$$ (thinking of painting the chairs, which would definitely help). What's your take on this style and design approach? What would you do to create an eclectic dining space of your own?

Bliss Living Home Trend Boards

Bliss Living Home has such gorgeous trend boards! Each board represents their latest collection for each season. One of my favorite things to do when beginning a new project is create a design concept / inspiration board. As you can see in these examples, you can use any object, photograph, textile swatch, etc. to create a board that shows off the overall look and feel for your vision. Do you ever create trend / inspiration boards...for design, fashion, or anything else? What inspires you when beginning a new project (whether it be personal or professional)?
