I came across this fantastic article via Country Living and had to share it with you! "Silhouette art has charmed us for centuries. Now, it's making a comeback on pretty new products to live with and wear." Where did silhouettes first originate? They used to be called "shades," and sometimes "profiles," "likenesses," or "shadow pictures." They first appeared in the late 1600s -paper-cut profiles as an alternative to traditional painted portraits. They were cheaper and much faster than sitting for hours on end. Although the art itself might be several hundred years old, incorporating silhouettes into home decor and fashion looks anything but stuffy and dated! There are countless ways to add interest to a room with silhouettes. I'm totally inspired now to create a few of my own...
