"Giving Back" Tuesdays

Christmas is just 9 days from now - yikes! While giving back is important all year round, the Holiday season is an especially wonderful time to give to those in need. While it feels great to receive gifts during the Christmas season, nothing compares to the feeling you get when you've helped make a difference in someone's life; even the smallest gesture can mean the world to someone less fortunate. I've rounded up several different charities offering many different ways to give back...

10 Charities to Give to Over Christmas

Do you have a special charity that you'd like to share or do you have any great ideas on other ways to give back during the holiday season?

  2. I haven't got lots of money, so I'm being extremely practical about charity: I buy almost all my clothes and home accessories at the Salvation Army. They've got some super cool stuff! I don't always agree with their views but they do a lot of good both locally and around the world. I also give stuff back to them.

This Christmas, I've bought only small gifts: cool notepads and tiny books from sustainable forests, lovely napkins from recycled paper plus fairtrade coffee, tea and chocolate. Shopping eco friendly and fairtrade is one way of helping people's lives and working conditions to improve, as we shop almost every day!

  3. i don't have a specific charity, but i have always wanted to find a family who does not have much and can not afford presents for their kids, and make them a nice meal and bring the kids toys for Christmas. i'd possibly do it anonymously, as someone told me that a family might feel too embarrassed to accept something like that when they can not afford it themselves.

but when i was little, a family at our church brought all seven members of my family large bags of presents one year that we could not afford a "traditional" Christmas.

i think if every family that was blessed did this for one family that could not—everyone would have a truly blessed Christmas. it bothers me that there are people who can not even afford to put food on the table much less buy Christmas presents.

anyway, i've never heard of my two front teeth. i will have to go check that one out.
