Natural & Raw Wood Finishes

I've been noticing a trend with wood finishes such as limed oak, white washed and grey washed, being offered in several furniture and home decor lines. While these finishes aren't technically "new", they are being re-introduced to the marketplace, from IKEA to Crate and Barrel and everything in between. It's a nice change from the typical espresso, mahogany and painted furniture everyone carries! These finishes can lend themselves to more of a cottage or rustic look, but I also think you can mix and match with glossy white lacquer or colorful painted pieces. Here's a round-up of some of my favorite pieces along with some inspiration photos.

  6. I have spied that wood chandelier in person, and the crystal ball hanging down is heavier than the the entire piece it is dangling from.
It holds my mind's eye and does not let go.

  9. julie, i love this look as well. and like you suggested, mixing these worn, vintage-y looks with glossy painted others, to contrast and give different kinds of life to spaces. those panels (or doors?) in that first photo with that white couch, now there's a perfect example of mixing the 2 together. i am very drawn to that style. my style is definitely mixing old and new. :) happy weekend.
