All About the Details...

My favorite part of designing a space has to be the accessories. They are what complete the overall look and tie everything together - the same way accessories compliment and complete an outfit. It's the special little details that really stand out and make all the difference. Whether it's a collection of vintage china stacked and displayed beautifully on a shelf, or random finds grouped together to create interest, stacks of colorful books on a coffee table, or a carefully curated art wall...all of these little bits and pieces are what make the overall look and feel of a space come to life. They are what personalize it and make it feel like home. And the best part is that they're easily changeable - all you have to do is move things around and switch out couple pieces when it's time for a decor refresher!  It's all about showcasing what you love and what makes you smile. How do you feel about accessories and details? Please share tips, ideas, opinions, etc!

  1. Oh I feel the same way about accessories in a room. I have boxes of them, because I change my mind so often. I have found that I do all the accessorizing and then do the old jewelry trick (take one away before you leave).
I have not visited for awhile, so I am going to go cruise your blog :)

  4. Great photos. I love accessories so much I have too many. Since our house has been in remodel status for quite some time, I buy things and stash them for a later date. You know, when things are "ready". When we started our master suite remodel, I found six whole storage containers worth of accessories. I'm going to have a fun time finding a home for all this stuff I forgot I had :)

  6. I totally agree! The devil (or beauty) is in the details! I'm so in love with vintage everything at the moment, and I've been adorning myself with vintage jewelry and clothing (as shown in my latest blog post, lol)...so I can't wait to dress up my home the same way. I still mostly have old college furniture (even 4 years later) and really look forward to moving out and up into a home I can fill with wonderful touches and details that I really love.

    Great post. :)

  11. As an artist with a strong love for painting still lifes and interiors, home accesories are crucial for my inspiration. I have gathered so much over the years that it would be impossible to display them all at the same time. I keep editing, my interior is ever evolving.

  13. I totally agree. Accessories make the outfit just as they make the room! You can dress something up or down based on accessories...and you can change the feel of a space with new accessories. It is an inexpensive way to make some changes.

Gorgeous pics- I especially love the mantel with the teacups.
