Accessorizing with Shells

Accessorizing with shells is something that I'll never grow tired of. There's something very timeless about them and when used in the right way, they can add texture and interest to a space. Shells don't have to be used only in a "beachy" or "coastal" themed interior - they can be used in practically any setting - modern, sophisticated, eclectic, traditional and so on. Coral is my favorite of them all! The texture and gorgeous variety of colors makes coral one of the best accessories to display on a cocktail table, console table or bookcase. Shells appear as found objects that have been collected over time, during trips to the beach or distant travels (even if you really just purchased them right from Pottery Barn). What do you think about shells?

Happy Labor Day weekend! Enjoy the long holiday and do something fun! Be sure to come back next week to check out a super exciting give-away I'm hosting! Seriously, you won't want to miss it! xoxo - Julie

  1. My daughter's name is Coral so I am partial to this post. I never thought of using shells in such a modern fashion! Makes me wish I didn't throw out most of the ones the kids have collected over the years.

  2. oooh, I love that blue coral. For the first time I have 2 beach themed rooms in my house and I love it. I've stolen my mom's 20 year shell collection to accessorize because she's over it. LOL. Great inspiration photos.

  9. I agree, shells are so timeless, will never go out of style and look great with almost any decor! A long time ago I took an old garage sale mirror and adorned it with shells and sea glass. It was one of the first diy projects I attempted to tackle (I think I was in high school.) I forgot all about that mirror until I saw that image fourth from the bottom! (Mine didn't look that great though!)
