Neutral Color Palettes = Glamour & Sophistication

I often blog about color, bold prints and patterns and dramatic ideas for creating impactful interiors. Sometimes I get so carried away my love for color, I overlook neutral color palettes, which can be just as dramatic and beautiful! One way to keep a neutral color palette fresh and exciting is by mixing together different textures and finishes (like an off-white nubby area rug paired with a sleek espresso cocktail table).  To keep things from looking boring and stale, contrast is a must! You'll notice in several of these photos that the light fabrics, paint, etc. are mixed in with darker furniture and accents. Although all of these rooms are timeless, classic and very chic, I find myself wanting to add a pop of color here and there! What are your thoughts on simple, neutral color palettes?

  1. Beautiful rooms. I have always loved Vincente Wolf bedroom, so open fresh yet very warm and soothing (picture#10)

I've been asked to cover a couch in a friend's home that is neutral and minimalist, I'll be sharing a link to help them out with fabric selection... very handy, thank you!

  3. The striped floor is stunning. It looks a little bit hotelish (do not use that word when playing Scrabble) but I adore the idea.

  4. i'm glad you like the striped floor! that's actually one of my projects that i did for a model home. we used the all of the same marble for the flooring, but the darker pieces are "honed" and the lighter are polished. this gave nice contrast, especially the way it was installed to to give off a striped effect :)
