Inspiration Snapshot: A Punch of Pink

Instantly add drama and excitement to your decor by painting an existing bookcase or credenza in a bright hue! This room was designed by Caitlin Wilson, who's beautiful work was recently featured in Ivy & Piper magazine (see pg. 76). This bold shade of high gloss fuchsia works so well is because it's against a neutral backdrop - neutral walls and carpet, balanced by the rectangular painted black board. Caitlin accessorized the bookcase with simple frames and objects, resulting in an overall look that's eclectic and interesting, yet still fresh and modern. I LOVE the peacock lampshade, by the way! What do you think of this idea? Would you ever paint a bookcase or cabinet in your home a bright color?

  2. Absolutely! In my home office, I took the door off an old china cabinet and painted the cabinet a high gloss turquoise, then wallpapered the back wall with Boston street maps. It really packs a punch!

I would do it! I keep trying to talk my husband into letting me paint something a super-bright turquoise, but I haven't been successful yet.
