White Delight

Happy Friday everyone! Today I wanted to cover a topic that's opposite of what I usually post about. As I'm sure many of you may have figured out by now, I love color and think it can bring such joy and energy to a space! Just the other day I blogged about painting your ceiling anything but white...however, there is a time and place for a simple, quiet white interior. I think there are a few different factors that play into pulling off an all white palette successfully: the lighting of the space - especially if there are lots of windows to let in natural light, the architecture and the flooring. As much as I enjoy looking at all of these gorgeous photos, I'm not sure if I could actually live in such a "pure" color palette on a daily basis...maybe it would be better in my (pretend) vacation home on the beach, overlooking the gorgeous blue ocean? Yes, that's where I would design my home in an all white/neutral palette :) What about you? How do you feel about all white interiors?

  2. You know I'm a huge colour fan too, Jules, but I have to say...these white spaces are a true delight. My fave is the 7th image of that dining room, which was a cover image for Elle Decoration earlier this year! xo

I love all of your chosen images! I don't think I could live with an all white interior but its sooooooo restful on the eye.
I think the secret is lots of texture or to mix it with natural elements. Maybe one day....

  7. Because I am such a huge color fan, I left our sitting room white - well, perhaps I cheated - its got the slightest touch of warm yellowish green that you can only see in the afternoon. It's bright and clean and relaxing in my otherwise sea of colors. Plus, I can add or change the accessory colors as the mood hits and the seasons change.

  12. I beg to differ. I think all white spaces look a little sterile and uninspired. I just enjoy color too much, and I don't think I could be happy or creative in an all white space. I think they look fresh for about 2 weeks, then everything shows up on it. I'm ready for this trend to pass!

  13. i like looking at them, but the thought of all white in my house with a dog that sheds and a 2 year old boy frightens me to the core. these are beautiful images!

  14. Though my Swedish heart leaps at the sight of white interiors (it's in our DNA!:) I do love a little contrast in all the white glory. Too much white on white makes me feel lost. I need an anchor through texture, soft colour and raw materials. Some of the rooms in your gorgeous image parade here show that perfectly.
