Home Tour: Southhampton Escape
Today is shaping up to be super busy so for lack of time, I'm sharing a few snapshots from this amazing Vogue home tour via APT with LSD. The beautiful home belongs to swimwear designer Lily Maddock, and was designed by Celerie Kemble and Anna Burke of Kemble Interiors. “I have always had a nostalgia for Palm Beach, Biarritz, and old Hollywood glamour, and I think our house reflects that,” says Maddok. “But at heart, my home also reflects the other things that are important to me like family comforts, a love of the outdoors, and casual entertaining.” Words that come to mind when touring this home: spring, fresh, blissful, and bright! Quote of the Week
"My bedroom is the center of my universe and favorite room in my house. Why? Because at the beginning and the end of each day, it is where I gather my thoughts. And I believe that we are what we think. So I take extra care with my bedroom and try not to clutter it and to keep it fresh."

Quote of the Week
"When I'm designing a home, I give as much attention to the placement of a decorative chair as I do the hanging of an expansive painting, in every instance engaging the interplay of texture and scale...A well considered vignette can make a piece of art all the more beautiful by adding a complimentary energy and form."

Entryway Inspiration
The entrance to your home sets the tone for what people can expect for the rest of your house, right? It's the first and last impression of your home, so it should be impressive and memorable. Even if you have a tiny entryway, there are so many things you can do to spice it up. I have a single wall in my apartment entryway that was super boring until I painted it an accent color and created an awesome photo / art collage wall (which I'll be sharing with you next week)! Now when people walk in the door, they stop to admire all of the memorable photos that fill the frames. Don't settle for a plain old boring entrance - try an accent paint, a stunning piece of art, wallpaper, an over-sized mirror, a graphic runner, painted floors, painted ceilings...the sky's the limit! Here are some great examples of dynamic entrances to give you a little inspiration. What's going on in your entryway right now? Happy weekend! xoxo - Julie

New Year's Inspiration: A List of Things to Focus On
This year I mentioned that I wasn't going to add more to my plate with too many resolutions and goals, but rather improve the areas in my life that I've neglected for some time now. Here's a list of areas I'd love to focus on in my home for 2013. I'm queen of making lists and then never sticking to them, but this year I'm really going to try and change that! What are you focusing on in 2013 in your home? Have a great weekend! xoxo - Julie
1. Buy fresh flowers more often, just because they make me happy!
2. Get organized and stay organized...especially with all of my son's toys that are now invading our apartment!
3. Buy fresh produce more often at our local farmer's market and experiment with some new recipes. I'm so tired of cooking the same 5 things for dinner every week!
4. Redecorate my apartment (we may be moving in a few months, so I may wait until then). Do I want bright and colorful, or...
5. Do I want to keep things more soft, neutral and glamorous?
6. Bake more...I can't wait to try this recipe for baked French Breakfast Doughnuts.
7. Give our bedroom a serious makeover! I want to create a relaxing and beautiful retreat to unwind and rest.
8. Entertain more - have family and friends over more often for brunch, dinner or cocktails.
9. Attempt more DIY projects and post the tutorial on my blog, like this DIY Linen Covered Polka Dot Pinboard!
