A Dash of Gold

Hello all! I'm back and feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Just took a day to scale back, relax and reflect on what's really important, thanks to many of your encouraging comments. I don't do that enough and have made a vow to make it more of a priority! Today's blog post was inspired by all of the beautiful golden accents I'm seeing everywhere. A touch of gold adds a little glamour and sophistication to just about any interior. Just as a gold accessory or two brings an outfit to life, a dash of gold can take just about any room to another level. Even if you think a gold leaf mirror or pair of gold candlesticks would be the last thing you'd add to a space, think again - gold coordinates with more than you realize! It can be in the smallest detail and still add impact. What do you think about gold as an accent?

  2. I must admit, I wouldn't normally go for gold, but a lot of those images looked fantastic with a splash here or there! The frames look great, and I love candle sticks in any colour :)

  4. I love the gold in the first photo, and I think can look nice if done in the right way. I prefer silver or even a mix of the two.

  6. It just never goes out of style. Even when it's not the new "hot" thing (which it is now), it's still good. I was in the process of ridding myself of all the brass wedding gifts I got over 30 yrs ago, so now I'm just going to pull them out, polish them up and put the out!

  7. What a beautiful post! I fully agree. I try to incorporate gold when I can. It makes a room that much more sophisticated.

  9. gorgeous spaces! I used to have quite a few gold pieces back when it was in style. then I gradually evolved to more silvery, brushed metal accents. Luckily I've got one amazing gold-framed mirror that I didn't alter (though I was so tempted to paint it) and I'm so glad now that I didn't. :)

  13. i have always loved metallic accents. there is something special, sexy, dramatic and sort of weirdly soothing metallics add to spaces. they are smooth, shiny, soft, loud and calming all at the same time. i suppose there lies the fantastic~ness of them? ;) love this post! glad you are re~energized. and yes, you must do that once in a while, taking a break. you'll be all the better for it!
