Quote of the Week

"Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use."

- Earl Nightingale

9/11 WE REMEMBER

I took these photos last spring on a trip to New York. Today I share them with you in  memory of those who lost their lives on 9/11; they're also a reminder of the incredible progress we have made in rebuilding Ground Zero.  May God Bless America

What's Your Sofa Style?

There are endless possibilities when it comes to sofa styles. The basic style of a sofa comes down to 3 things: the cushions, arms and whether it has a skirt or legs. Aside from the frame of the sofa, there are endless possibilities on what type of fabric to use: a print or solid? Chenille, silk, linen, leather, etc? And what about the color? Something neutral, colorful, bold? Seriously, how does one decide?! I rounded up a variety of sofa styles - modern, traditional, slipcovered, armless, tufted; ones with details such as nail head trim, a skirt, fringe. What style are you drawn to? I tend to lean toward sofas that have more of a modern, clean silhouette, in a neutral fabric. My theory is that by going with a solid neutral for the upholstery, it allows you to ad pops of color and pattern with accent pillows, which you can change out from time to time for a quick update. That being said, I do love seeing a large print such as a stripe or geometric, but haven't had the courage to try it for myself or a client yet! What are your thoughts on sofa styles? What are you most drawn to?

Have a great weekend! Anything exciting happening? Meet you back here next week :) xoxo - Julie

Guest Blogging for La Dolce Vita!

Hello and welcome back to a new week. I hope you enjoyed the long weekend - I sure did :) Today I'm guest blogging over at La Dolce Vita as part of a special series Paloma has put together called Dream Home. Each guest blogger is given the opportunity to put together a detailed post sharing their ultimate dream home. I had so much fun dreaming up my home...but also found it a bit challenging to narrow down the hundreds of images I've bookmarked over time. I love so many different design styles and colors schemes, it was hard to choose my favorites! Anyway, please hop on over to Paloma's fabulous blog and take the tour of the home I dream of living in one day! xoxo - Julie

Last Days Of Summer: A Garden Party

Happy Friday! Are you ready for the holiday weekend? I sure am and decided to kick mine off early! My mom is on her way to pick me up and we're going to head to Corona Del Mar for a day at the beach. I only live 20 minutes from the beach and haven't been ONE TIME the entire summer. There's something really wrong with that! Anyway, to wrap up the week, I thought I'd share some fabulous photos sent to me from Kassi Gray, who works with the OC/LA event company, Elite Productions. The Garden Party was shot by photographer Aaron Shintaku. I'm trying to savor the last days of summer before we head in to the fall season. What end of summer plans do you have? Are you looking forward to fall? Have a fab weekend :) xoxo - Julie
