Tips on How to Transform Your Bedroom

As a follow-up to Wednesday's post about the importance of a beautiful, relaxing bedroom (not a junk-yard / storage room), I searched online for great deals and easy ways to transform your own bedroom in to a retreat...

Paint is the easiest and cheapest way to dramatically change the look and feel of a room. Paint your entire room in a soft blue like Sereneta for a tranquil feel. Or, paint three of the walls a soft neutral, such as Frappe, and paint the bed wall or main wall a bold accent color like Lucerne, Agave or Kona. All of the colors shown above are from Benjamin Moore Affinity Color Line.
Anthropologie soy candles - Illume Good Nature & Mozi Candle.

These bedding collections are fabulous and inexpensive! Top left, clockwise: Target Dwell Studio Foliage; Target Home Kissing Pleat; Overstock Branches Black Duvet; Target Dwell Studio Bloom.

Investing in high-quality sheets is one way to add a little luxury to your bed. Try the Pima Cotton 600 Thread Count Sheets from Overstock ($69.99 marked down from $360!) or the Sateen Hotel Bedding from Cuddledown on sale now; the Homemedics Smart Foam pillow is amazing - ever since I started using one, I'll never go back to a regular pillow!; top your mattress with a fluffy and dreamy Baffle Box Goose Featherbed (Overstock $70 marked down from $280!).
Target has an entire line of fantastic headboard slipcovers. Any one of these would look beautiful against a painted accent wall!

Drapery panels can really soften a room and add texture and warmth. All of these simple side panels look great and are inexpensive! Top left, clockwise Target casual home window panel in surf; west elm canterbury window panel; IKEA white curtain ($39.99 set of 2!); west elm silk print tie-top panel on sale now.

  9. Hi,

I'm in the midst of re-doing my master. i purchased bedding from Target-- which I love! And best, it was under $300.

I have a question about sliding glass doors- which I have in my bedroom. Do you have any suggestions for a window treatment?
