'Five Things' Friday - The Mollye Spaulding Edition

Yay, it's Friday! I hope you something fun planned for the weekend. I slipped up and did not announce the winner for the Design Camp giveaway yesterday, as promised. But because it's such a great opportunity, I'd love to extend the giveaway a few more days! Click here for details. One LUCKY winner will be announced on Monday, September 2nd. Now, please read on for today's fabulous contributor post. Enjoy!

Hello again! It’s Mollye from The Suite Life Designs. Today I am sharing my version of Five Things Friday. Many things are inspiring me lately and I am so excited to share them with you!

One. My husband and I just recently got back from our first trip to Barcelona. I am left SO inspired by all the beautiful architecture. I love all the details and balconies throughout the city. Barcelona is rich in history and wandering around the city was a lot of fun.

Two. With summer coming to a close and Labor Day this weekend I thought this was the perfect recipe to serve at your last summer BBQ. When I think of summer food tomatoes and corn are always the top of my list. This salad uses not only beautiful tomatoes and corn, but bacon and cheese - YUM! This is definitely on my list of things to make for Labor Day. [Image Source]

Three. As much as I love summer, I really love fall fashion. I love a chic coat or a pair of comfy boots. Fall is just around the corner, (not sure how that snuck up on us!) and I am getting totally inspired by this beautiful fall look! [Image Source]

Four. I recently stumbled across this beautiful vanity space on Pinterest (where else?) and was totally inspired. I love the feminine, vintage feel of this display. Gathering items on trays or in pretty cups is a great way to show off your everyday items in a beautiful way. I already use trays and small bowls for my jewelry, but using these items for makeup brushes and perfumes is a really good idea. [Image Source]

Five. I always love finding great inspiration for styling my bookshelves at home. I like to mix in objects with my books for a more collected feel. When I saw this bookcase I fell in love! Every girl loves shoes right? Well I never really considered displaying some of my favorite pairs in with my books and decorative objects. This is a really fun idea and you can constantly change up which shoes you choose to display! [Image Source]

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Don't forget to stop by The Suite Life Designs for more daily inspiration. See you all back here next time!

Let's Celebrate :: Goodbye Summer!

Hello Lovelies, it's Nycia here from She Inspires, with a little end of summer inspiration to make you smile. With the kiddos heading back to school and Fall approaching so quickly, there's no better way to say goodbye to the summer than with a few girlfriends over brunch with a mimosa in hand and of course, in style. This fabulous inspiration room that I stumbled upon on Pinterest is just simply divine. All the crisp white, and the yummy pops of color makes for the perfect color palette for an end of summer soiree. Wouldn't you want an invitation?

Color Palette Inspiration :: Teal & Rust

Hello, Belle Maison Readers! This is Jessica from Color the Burbs, and I'm excited to share with you some inspiration based on the teals and autumnal rusts that I've seen trending lately {the same shown in the pretty skirts and tops found by B and in Jeanne Chung's Moroccan-inspired room}.
{ Image Source}

Teal is a calming color that encourages balance and creates a sense of ease and harmony in a room. It is a tertiary color composed of blue {a primary color} and green {a secondary color}, and as such is often associated with oceans and tropical locales. However, teal can also produce a refined and classic look in a room when paired with rusts - the deep red-ish hues that remind me of beautifully old decaying metals, rustic bricks and fall leaves.

You will notice that teal decor is often laced with whites and creams, which complement the boldness of the color. White decorative items such as trim, drapery, shelving and furniture similarly tone down teal-painted walls. An important observation to note when decorating with teal: do not be afraid to use bold prints - teal will absorb and blend in with even the most distracting of patterns.

As I mentioned, such colors are reminiscent to me of autumn. Can you believe that fall is almost upon us? Though I'm not ready to give up the flip flops and bikinis of summer just yet, the following outfits do make me at least a little excited that layering will soon again be upon us:

Fashion Post :: My Favorite "Go-To" Outfit

Hello beautiful Belle Maison readers! It's Lou here, one half of the blogging duo from Lynn + Lou. I hope your week is going well. Today I am excited to share a go-to outfit that I frequently end up wearing.

I am in love with these bright sky blue skinnies. They are fun and colorful without being too bright and over the top. They have the perfect fit and I just love the skinny ankle.

I paired my skinnies with a basic graphic tee. Graphic tee's are my go-to on an "I don't know what to wear" day. I have far too many to count, but in my opinion, one can never have too many.

I topped everything off with my leather basket sandals, fringe vest, and I kept the arm candy simple with a few gold bracelets and my favorite over sized vintage La Mer watch.

This is definitely a go to outfit for me on any given day. And the best part, add a pair of boots and it transitions perfectly into Fall. Speaking of Fall, I just can't wait for it. I love the crispness in the air and the changing leaves. What is your favorite part of Fall?

For more outfit inspiration, foodie delight, crafts and design, follow me over at Lynn + Lou. Hope to see you over there!

Cheers!

Trending in Teal

Hey there, it's B from B. in the Know bringing you the latest and greatest from the world of fashion! Each year there are those select few colors that seem to be everywhere. I remember not being able to get enough of cobalt blue a couple years ago. Now, the color that's trending every which way I turn is teal. And we are not just talking one shade of teal, but rather a wide spectrum of teal. It is totally the color of the moment – at least in my life. It is perfect for a lightweight summer skirt or dress, but then also looks fabulous in a pencil skirt or blazer to look sharp at the office. Who says you can’t be professional and trendy at the same time?! Certainly, not this gal. The other fabulous thing about teal being the color of the moment is that it is a color that transitions with the seasons rather well. For summer, pair it with white and light neutrals. Then, as we move into the cooler months pair it with black and camels. The cooler months are also a great time to play with the darker shades of teal. So, whatever part of the world and season you find yourself in, you, too, can be trending in teal.

How do you feel about the current color of the moment? Are you trending in teal? What is your color the moment?

Much love,
B

Home Tour :: Vintage Chicago Remodel

Hello again! It’s Mollye from The Suite Life Designs. Today I am sharing a super luxe Chicago remodel with you. This vintage single family home is designed by the fabulous Summer Thornton. I featured some of Summer’s work on my blog last month and I completely fell in love with this Chicago home, so I thought I would share all the beautiful images with you. This super glam redesign is fearless. Summer’s use of pattern and color is truly amazing. I love the way she updated the 1890's home while still keeping the historic character. Take a look!

[ALL IMAGES VIA SUMMER THORNTON DESIGNS]

Gorgeous right? The elements I am obsessed with in this home are: The vintage pink sofa and leopard chair in the living room. This space is quirky, vibrant, and chic. The striped bedroom. The color combination with the mixed patterns is seriously fabulous. There is nothing not to love about this bedroom. That amazing kitchen. The La Cornue range and one of a kind brass and steel hood make a serious statement. Which is your favorite space? It’s so hard to choose! To see more of Summer Thornton's beautiful work head over to her portfolio. I hope you stop by The Suite Life Designs for more inspiration.

'Five Things' Friday - The Nycia Emerson Edition

Hello Lovelies,  Happy Friday!! I hope you all had a wonderful week full of inspiration and beautiful things. It's Nycia here from She Inspires with my edition of  "Five Things Friday". I am ending the week with a few of my favorite things and a look into a few things that have been inspiring me lately.  With the heat here in Texas, cold beverages, maxi dresses and pool time have been at the top my list, along with these five things below.  Have a fabulous weekend and remember to take in all the beauty you are surrounded by!!

One.  I started this week off with an updated inspiration board in my office. I don't know about you but having a bit of inspiration above my desk, helps me to think outside the box with projects I am working on, along with keeping my list of must haves fresh on my wish list and the motivation rolling..

Two. Color blocking is one of my favorite style trends right now.  When I spotted this sherbet color combo on Pinterest, I  had to add it to my style board.  I will probably be attempting this color combo soon.

Three.  Lovely tablescapes that include flowers and beautiful pattern fabrics always makes me a little giddy. I recently hosted a workshop and was able to share color ideas and details for entertaining at home. This photo has to be one of my favorites from the Summer Crush table.

Four. There is just something so refreshing about a well styled space, whether indoor or outdoor. This lovely outdoor space from Lonny Magazine is simply perfect. The stripes, the pops of color and all the shaded greenery around, makes me want to jump right in with a glass of wine in hand.

Five.  I am looking forward to the weekend, ready for a mini getaway to the Hill Country with the love of my life, as we celebrate 11 years of marriage. I feel so blessed to have this man as my husband, father of our sons and my best friend.  I  always look forward to every moment we get to spend together!

Baby Love :: Nursery Essentials

Hi Belle Maison readers - it's Kelle from Habitat + Beyond Kids here coming to you all the way from Australia! As an Interior Designer that specialises purely in spaces for children it's my job to help parents-to-be create a nursery that they will treasure. There are a few essentials that every nursery needs, and now more than ever parents are requesting items that stand out from the crowd. Colour is now becoming a staple for many modern nurseries and today I'm going to share a few of my favourite pieces to help your Little One's room be the talk of the town!

H+B Kids Nursery Essentials

Comfort is a huge deciding factor when choosing a chair for nursing your baby or for story time, but good news - this doesn't have to mean an overstuffed glider! Modern armchairs are equally as comfy and you can easily add an ottoman or pouffe to rest your feet.

Whether you decide on a floor or table lamp, a kitsch design like this Jonathan Adler horse version is a great talking point - stick to plain white, gold or silver so it complements the decor without looking too 'themey' (my pet hate in nursery design!).

White and walnut cribs still have their place, and for those parents who are prepared to step out of their comfort zone there is now some amazing neon furniture available. Or you can simply update an old crib with some child-friendly paint - et viola, new and on-trend!

Whether you have carpet or wood floors a rug is a great way to add some vibrant colour to the space - I've been lusting after this Zebra Print number for a while now. Mexican kilim rugs also work really well and add a multitude of colours you can play around with.

A side table doesn't have to be a boring, plain nightstand - wooden stools are a great alternative like this raw tree stump available from Kalon studios, or for a cost effective option consider approaching a local tree lopper for a log off cut.

I've loved sharing some of my Nursery Essentials with you all! Don't be a stranger - I would love for you to pop over and say hi at my blog Habitat + Beyond Kids!

DIY Project :: Gilded Pocket Tee

Hello lovely Belle Maison readers! It's Lou here, one half of the blogging duo from Lynn + Lou. I am so pleased to be contributing on Belle Maison today. Since the heat of Summer is upon us, I wanted to share my go-to outfit for Summer and I figured I would share a little DIY to go along with it.

During these hot months I love experimenting with different versions of cut-off shorts and over sized tee's. It is such an easy, no-hassle outfit and it is perfect for Summer. However, I wanted to try giving one of my basic tee's a face lift and I love how it turned out.

Materials:
1 Over-Sized Tee
4 x 6 in Swatch of Gilded Leather or Sheepskin
Thread
1 Tape Measure
Scissors

Directions:
1. Find a plain over-sized shirt, pre-wash and dry the shirt.

2. Cut a pocket shape out of your gilded fabric and pin it 9-12 inches from the shoulder, depending on your bust size and how low you prefer the pocket.
3. Sew the gilded fabric onto your shirt creating a pocket, removing all of the pins as you go.
4. To wash your shirt properly, hand wash it, avoiding the gilded pocket as much as you can.

I paired my gilded pocket tee with my favorite cut-offs. I found a pair of boyfriend jeans at a nearby thrift store and thought that they would be much better with a little snip, snip. Two folds later and I had my favorite Summer shorts. I definitely recommend a pair, you would be amazed at how versatile these shorts are and how many outfits they complete.

I topped everything off with dream catcher earrings, gold accessories, my favorite vintage La Mer watch and platform sandals. I kept my hair nice and simple with a top knot. Which was by far the best beauty creation, so easy, versatile and adds the perfect finishing touch to any ensemble.

For more crafts, food and fashion inspiration follow me on Lynn + Lou. Have a lovelyThursday!
Cheers!
