New From Daisy Janie

Daisy Janie is owned by designer Jan DiCintio. Jan's fabric designs are beautiful, with unique patterns and bright and bold color combinations. She just launched the Urbana Collection, which is a line of fabulous fabrics printed on 100% organic cotton sateen! Click here to view here entire collection of fabric - oh, and did I mention that the prices are amazing?! Be sure to also visit the daisy janie blog, which is full of inspiration and a closer look on how Jan creates her wonderful designs. She also authors the blog scoutie girl where she features other up-and-coming talented artist and designers.

A word from Jan..."My original designs represent a mix of favorites: bold colors, abstract layers and dramatic geometrics...all blended and balanced to create fresh & dynamic patterns. Years of experimentation as a painter led to my self-dubbed "fusion" style—combining a little of everything I liked to create a certain energized but harmonious look. My designs work because I thrive on symmetry. Without that, the designs would be too zany...which is fabulous, too, but that's another story." (excerpt directly from her website).

Rubie Green

When first discovering Rubie Green through an article in Domino, I was instantly smitten by the beautiful fabric line, which also happens to be made from 100% organic cotton! Finally, a super chic fabric line that is both amazing and environmentally friendly. "We know that natural does not mean boring, and that interiors make a house a home." - Rubie Green

Tranquility at Home

I have been going through a rough patch since finding out I'm being laid off in the near future. I've been a little on edge and am finding it hard to focus - even on things to post for my blog! I need to surround myself with some calm, relaxing things so here's what I found...
West Elm organic cotton pleated duvet cover + shams...I just want to crawl into this cloud-like bedding! It looks so cozy and crisp.

Top left: Stone Towel Hook from Viva Terra, very Zen; Pure & Simple Coral Organic Soap from William-Sonoma Home - mixed scents of lavender and citrus, these luxe soaps are just lovely; I love this White River Stone Mat from Viva Terra! The smooth stones massage the bottom of your feet, creating that "spa" experience right in your own home!

I'd like to wrap up in a luxurious Organic Cotton Spa Towel from Viva Terra; William Sonoma Home Diffusers - I'd like to try Vigne, which has a clean, bright bouquet of fresh citrus leaves with crisp green notes scent or L'Été, which has a fresh, breezy fragrance evocative of the seaside, with trailing white jasmine; The Geisha Flower Silk Robe looks soft and sumptuous - I like the cheerful pattern, inspired by vintage Japanese kimono fabrics.

My Obsession of the Week: Raw Organic Wood

This is the first post of something new I'm going to do every Monday: My Obsession of the Week. This week I chose a collection of raw, organic wood items. Every piece is made from either reclaimed wood, discarded trunks and roots of Chinese fir trees or completely renewable wood sources. I love the natural textures and shapes of the wooden bowls which are perfect for displaying fresh fruit or as a beautiful planter for a centerpiece. The glass domes set on hand-crafted bases are made from slices of sheesham wood (a completely renewable wood source) and are a great way to display items you love. Other items shown: Entwined Root Wall Mirror; Eyelet Stool; Entwined Root Bookcase; Organic Trunk Vases; Wine Barrel Stave Bread Bowl.
