Monster Lamps = Fabulous Accessories

Giant lamps can double as a light source and tabletop accessory. I say, the bigger, the better! I was perusing Tobi Fairley's portfolio and noticed how she uses an oversized, and often colorful, lamp in just about every space she designs. Her accessories are minimal, which keeps the overall look clean and polished. I know lamps can get expensive, but if you think of it as a two-for-one deal, where you'll save on having to buys lots of additional accessories, it may be an investment worth every penny! How do you feel about oversized lamps? Do you ever give lamps much thought? I'm especially loving the green ones below!!!

Inspiration Snapshot: Colorful & Classy

I'm in love with this living room designed by Eileen Kathryn Boyd, via Lonny Magazine. What a great example of how lots of color can be used in a space without overwhelming it. The neutral sofa, accent tables and white matting around the artwork help create a nice contrast and sense of balance. This room just makes me really happy :) What do you think about it? Please share your thoughts!

P.S. - I need your input! If you have a moment, please visit my FB Fan page to put in your two cents on shopping for accessories (see the most recent question posted today). I'd love to hear from you. Thanks! xoxo - Julie

Design Bloggers Conference Update

Yesterday was an incredible day at the Design Bloggers Conference in LA! It was jam packed with inspiring guest speakers and industry leaders that had so much valuable information to pass along to me and about 200 other ambitious bloggers / designers / entrepreneurs! It was a long day (4 1/2 hours in traffic round trip for me...commuting from Orange County to LA during rush hour traffic in the AM & PM is a nightmare!). I came home, had 2 glasses of wine and crashed early. I had to be refreshed and ready to return for Part 2 today for more exciting guest speakers and networking opportunities. Yesterday I took about 5 full pages of notes that I can't wait to share with you :) Enjoy your day and I'll meet you back here later this week for details on what you need to know as a fellow blogger! xoxo - Julie
