Where the Beautiful People Bowl

A fancy bowling alley? That's right people! The High Rollers Luxury Lanes and Lounge takes the very unglamorous game of bowling to a whole new level. This gorgeous venue boasts oversized avant-garde chandeliers, dark wood floors, plush seating, flocked wallpaper, sleek marble and lush carpeting...definitely a step up from your local bowling joint, right?!  I could picture myself with a group of friends on a Saturday night, bowling in a cute little cocktail dress while sipping a dirty martini...well, I don't know about the cocktail dress part, although I'm sure you could get away with wearing sequins and bowling shoes at this place. Anyway, enjoy the gallery of photos and click here to see even more of this beautiful venue. What do are your thoughts on the interior design, the overall concept, etc? Have any of you ever been? (It's located in Mashantucket, CT at Foxwoods Resort Casino).

What's In for 2011: Decorating with Brass

That's right my lovelies, brass is making it's way back into home decor for 2011! It may be time to give those old candlesticks or accessories packed away in the attic a good polish and a second chance! The metallic trend has been on the rise in both fashion and home decor since early 2010, where we've seen pops of shimmery gold, sparkling sequins and shiny metallics, just about everywhere. Brass, when used in a dulled finish, is a nice way to introduce metallics into the home because it offers warmth and touch of glamour without being too flashy. I'm really loving vintage looking brass - it's a nice alternative to gold, which is often brighter and more on the yellowish side. Is this a look that you're loving? Or should brass stay in the past? Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)

Today I'm heading off to to Vegas, baby! I recruited one of my best girlfriends to join me at the 2011 Las Vegas Winter Market (I really had to twist her arm :), which is held at the World Market every 6 months. I went last August, which I blogged about here & here, and am looking forward to seeing fresh new product and inspiration for both my clients and online shop.  I'll be reporting back next week with lots of photos, ideas, inspiration and anything else worthy of sharing. In the meantime, I've scheduled some fun blog posts for the week and will try and pop in to say hello at some point! xoxo - Julie

Quote of the Week

"Glamour, like the silent-movie stars, can both be subtle and intense. Is there anything more chic than a French woman in a simple black dress and silk scarf? Chic requires editing and restraint, but when you get it right nothing is as bewitching. Ultimately, glamour is about romance and a love affair with your home."

Re-Post...What I'm Loving Now :: Accessorizing with Busts

Happy Friday! As my life gets busier with work and a tollder, I'm finding less time to write blog posts, which bums me out :( So today, I'm re-posting a post I wrote a while back that was quite popular with you all! Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!

Bust sculptures have been around for centuries, often placed in traditional and classic settings. I've never considered using a bust as an accessory in any of my design projects, I guess maybe because I've associated them with "stuffy and formal"...until now. After searching several of my favorite design sites, I began noticing decorative busts used as accessories everywhere. Where have I been?! Living room, foyer, bedroom, bathroom...a bust can be used as a focal point / statement piece, or it can be mixed in subtly with other accessories. Either way, I'm loving busts and plan on incorporating them into future projects one way or another! What do you think about accessorizing with busts? Have you tried this in your own home? You know I always love your comments and appreciate you taking the time to put in your two cents :) Wishing you a fabulous weekend. xoxo - Julie
